However, Otis, since I posted the original in 2007 a lot of things have changed, but even with HVCC, this is still a valid question:

If a bank uses an appraisal prepared for another bank under the OCC regs, how can they know it has not been altered? What do you think is the solution to this problem?


Except, now, the question is, if a lender uses an appraisal prepared for another lender, how can they know it meets HVCC requirements?

Lender B must obtain a letter from Lender A certifying that HVCC was complied with.

Actually, I posted this a few seconds late... it was intended to mean that getting a letter is not likely to happen. But, come to think of it, the other thing is not likely to happen either (Otis mute). :OF:
