About this Forum

Postby Jim Plante on Sat Aug 11, 2007 9:08 am

I started this forum after getting banned from AppraisersForum.com for having had the temerity to disagree publicly with the Site Admin's policies. I didn't think they were appropriate to a particular situation, and I said so. He was, in my opinion, mistreating another poster, and I called him on it. The site says that I'm banned because I voluntarily left.

In the aftermath, I learned that similar things had happened to others--good appraisers who provide good insight into tough appraisal problems. Now, I hate a damned bully. Have ever since grade school. I don't like clients who try bullying to get their way, and I don't like Site Admins who throw their weight around.

So this site will be as friendly as possible. If you want to get kicked out, you're going to have to work at it. I'm not in this to make money, so I'm not going to be the hall monitor, screening every post. No, to get booted off of here, you'll have to get several people to complain about you. Even then, it'll take a while, except in the most egregious circumstances.

I'm not "Politically Correct," so don't come crying to me if your favorite ox gets gored. You're an adult, so I expect you to take care of yourself. Men will make sexist remarks; I won't protect you. Liberals will advance liberal issues, conservatives will criticize them, and I won't care. (Just remember, your clients may be watching you.)

Just remember that we are guests of a free hosting service. See the list of rules for Freeforums.org (they're short), and follow them. If you break those, I'll have no choice but to boot you.

I believe I had the honor to be one of the 1st banned, and they weren't nearly as cordial with me.

I was informed in a private message that I was banned for "stalking" (it was a private insult--a different reason was given in their public forums).

Funny...we got along fine for years (as long as I didn't rock the boat). But when they started forming cliques & making trouble for people I called em on it, and was promptly banished to cyber solitary.

Will get them over there as soon as we can.......did anyone tell Edd about this place?
"The two-spirit in most Native cultures has traditionally lived between the sexes, claiming both male and female, and is a healer, teacher and spiritual leader, a special and honored person in the tribe. It remains to be seen whether any such place of honor can be held in our modern culture."
