This morning from about 10:15 to about 12:30, FreeForums was hit with a DDOS attack on one of its forums. This slowed all the servers to a crawl, and made using the forum impossible. (DDOS=Distributed Denial of Service)
In a DDOS attack, the servers are flooded with page requests quite rapidly, making it impossible for them to serve legitimate requests. I'm pretty impressed that the FF staff was able to clear this varmint in such a rapid time. Sometimes these things continue for days before they can be located and killed off.
