I suspect there are still "free market" adherents who will attack all of that while offering nothing substantive. Get ready for some crap about Obama the socialist who wasn't even born in this country. Sorry, that is political baiting.
The banking industry has demonstrated over and again that is is driven to excesses and can't discipline itself even as it admonishes its customers to be frugal and conservative. Somebody has to watch 'em. This is not the time to ask for more of what the banks have wrought without regulation.
What is the alternative to regulation? No regulation?
