Opening PDFs

Postby Marcia on Wed Sep 12, 2007 1:38 pm

I noticed Ben had a problem opening PDFs and I have the same problem. I have not been able to open any PDFs in this forum.

The error report says 'file not found'.

I had started having similar problems on that other forum but after I uninstalled all old versions of Adobe and Acrobat and installed Adobe 8 the old problem went away.

That was before I ever signed up here.

I'm assuming it's a problem with my own stuff since others have no problem, but since Ben reported the same problem, I thought maybe you'd want to know.

I noticed the same thing. These opened fine on my new puter at home that has only 8, but wouldn't open here where there is 7 & 8. I saved 'em and then opened 'em with 8. That worked well.

I've removed seven from both the office and my home computer, and installed only eight, but still have the same issue. I'll play around with it tonight and see if I can figure out what is going on.

Until you get it figured out, you can right-click on the "download" link, and choose to save the linked file to disk. Then open it like any other file in Acrobat or Reader.

I use a Mac, and this is not a problem with Apple's browser (Safari 3). (Mac's got its own set of quirks.)

Woohoo!! Opened fine with that trick, Jim. Thanks. I now have those docs and can review them.
