State appraiser section

Postby benluby on Sun Dec 16, 2007 11:59 pm

We've got a lot of things going well, but I noticed in the appraisal section we have the offers to review for attorneys, law enforcement, and our fellow appraisal professionals. Can we start a locate an appraiser section at the top of the forum that is capable of state by state appraiser information? With the appraisal professional section being access on a case by casse basis, the review offers there are not being seen by some potential customers.
Just a thought.

That's on the list, Ben, but on the back burner for now. We'd have to change to a paid service, and move the board in order to be able to add the type of page you're talking about.

But it's possible.

Greg,
Depends on the options we choose.

Using something like GoDaddy, web hosting isn't much; somewhere less than $200/yr for a full spectrum of service. It would let us have quite a few different web pages--one for the forum portal, the forum, the map-based search engines, etc. The cost is bandwidth-dependent. In other words, the more use it gets, the more it costs.

The other alternative is paying for a fixed IP address, purchasing a database server, a web server, and a RAID storage device, and managing the forum and whatever else we decided we wanted ourselves. This option would be undertaken only in anticipation of very high-volume activity, since it is quite expensive to set up and maintain.

I'm just thinking out loud here, but has anyone thought of forming a co-op or a national appraisal company in order to cost share for things like software, M&S, MLS, LoopNet, CoStar, advertising, etc?

We started one, although we are not that sophisticated yet.

Guess what we and a few others have been doing all day yesterday??
We're not being stopped by something on the outside, but by something on the inside.
