Alternative to Norton?

Problems and successes with your machinery and equipment. Disto's, printers, scanners, etc. along with fax services, telephone service, and whatever else you use to aid your appraisal practice.

Jan if you don't have Ad-Aware from LavaSoft..get it..it's free...Hunts down ad-ware that you get from going to web sites. You might also check your start-up file...Many programs put themselves in your start-up menu so they automatically start when you boot up. That can slow your computer too. "Startup Inspector' is free-ware that will analyze those programs and give them ratings.

Your internet speed can be checked at:

Mine is about 2,600 kbps (kilobytes-per-second) I have a DSL connection. It's plenty fast for my needs right now. If you have a cable modem, your speed could be 10 times that so I don't see that being a problem.

Just some suggestions...I have been there done that more times than I care to remember...Good Luck!!

I too have my computers built locally. Very little problems and if there is a problem it is fixed the same day while is sit and watch. My computers have outlasted the 'Big Box' ones my friends have bought.

Edit.....Almost forgot...I too run AVG...Norton is a resource hog. Also, I just 'downgraded' from Internet Explorer 7 back to 6...Unless you have a newer computer with enhanced bussing Explorer 7 can really slow you down...
