I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.
I recently took a fantastic class offered by M.A.E. Real Estate Education called "Developing and Reporting a Defensible 1004 Form Report." The instructor, John Ohlin was probably the best I've had in any of the classes I've taken. I find so many continuing Education classes are a waste of time and money so when one like this comes along I'm thrilled. I've had many instructors spend too much time telling war stories or saying they are not going to go over certain material because, "We should already know that." Thanks a heap! All that does is intimidate the appraisers and keep them from asking questions because they don't want to look stupid.
I hope I will be able to feel comfortable to ask questions on this forum. I belong to another forum, (I notice some of you belong to it also) but I gave up on asking ANYTHING, as you wouldn't believe the amount of ridicule and insults you receive rather than an honest answer.

Welcome to the Free Forum, Olivia. I've never been afraid to ask a question in class, or to force the instructor back onto the subject with one. Looking stupid is something that just comes naturally to me. Glad you enjoyed your class and hope you enjoy the freedom of expression that can be found here. _________________ I haven't a particle of confidence in a man who has no redeeming petty vices.

As you can probably tell by now, things are a bit loser over here.

Olivia, glad to see you posting. Things are indeed looser over here. If you're on the ASC appraiser's registry, send me or one of the other admins your real name and city, and we'll set you up for the Appraisal Professionals Only section. We do it like that so that you can ask questions about real-time appraisals with real clients without violating confidentiality. Works much as it would if you were asking a question of a colleague in th same office. _________________ Jim Plante
