Probation my ass. These people need to be sentenced to death. Hang 'em high in the town square and skin them alive like catfish.

I hope they burn in hell soon.

Unbelieveable.

I have a slightly different opinion of that. (The Hell part I'll leave up to God.) Personally, I do not think that anyone who has not committed a violent crime should ever go to jail. The exception would be if they did not adhere to the orders of the court for restitution.

Today’s guilty plea – and the ordered restitution – provide a measure of justice for this victim

That is the only way victims of this kind of crime ever get any justice. It does that disabled man no good for the perpetrator to go to jail.

Think about what the consequences of such a policy would be. It is simple economics. If the only way you could go to jail is through violence, armed robberies, assaults, etc. would decline drastically. People caught for other offenses would be more certain to do what the court told them, whether restitution, community service, or just behave for the next five years... because they would know that if they broke their probation, all of the "nice" criminals are out doing CS and they guys they are going to bunk with are really bad guys.

Now, personally, I think that $40k is a little light. But restitution is the ticket.

I can't believe anyone would take advantage of a disabled person like that.

Yes he should pay restitution ... and then die. He is breathing good air and wasting precious resources. Anyone who would do something like that won't ever be worth a chit anyway.

I have no mercy for people like that. Same goes for anyone who would abuse a child. Remove them from society permanently.

Child abuse (and the other various forms of rape) is different. Violent crime.
