Rumblins on the AF

Post it here if it won't fit anywhere else

Perhaps "invite" was too strong a word. I'm not necessarily in favor of searching Skippy out to see if there is anything under that beanie... just don't think we should disallow their posts.

They will soon fade away when they find out there are no mods to protect them here and no prohibition against calling an ass an ass.

(What a shot memory some of us have.)

Does anyone here really think that AF is a better place for banning those they did?

So... the problem is the same as the problem has always been. Who gets to decide??? (Of course, the Nazis had an answer for that one.)

In the case of Wayne, he got to decide because he owns the board. That's when I decided to walk. (See, he didn't really get to decide after all.)

FTR - the little dink just PM'd me again - stating it wouldn't get past the mods.

He is hardly reformed, he just knows better than to be as blatant in public as he used to be.

Yo Stone, him and the horse he rode in on.

I never use a spell checker (don't know how to) and TC never busts me for my typos. I've always kinda wondered about that.

He has too much respect to do that.

Well, if you disagree a lot with me then you are wrong a lot. I was thinking in the context of inviting the nit-wits over here who do nothing, but yak. Usually speech is considered to be some action that expresses opinion. These skippies are simply parrots chattering away, who haven't the ability to think. They are not speaking since what you hear is not being generated by any brain function that is required for opnion.

As for TC respecting Hatch. Cindy, Cindy, Cindy! TC's purpose in life is correcting spelling and George is very care-full about what he posts and is apparently not keyboard impaired. At any rate whatever misspelling George may have committed has not yet caught TC's attention. Ask TC, but it could as well mean TC won't even bother to read Hatch's stuff. You're projecting Cindy.

Nothing, including respect for Hatch, supersedes TC's spell checking obsessions, nothing. But, to be fair I've noticed that when TC does his thing it contains a passive comment on the frailty of somebody who has posted some opinion beyond the pale. Er... pail. No, payle.

And Hatch, thanks for mentioning TC's oversight. I'll see about recruiting somebody who has the ability and willingness to correct your typos. But, you need to work on some of the other content.

Hehehehe.... Recruiting someone to sift through my 3,000 word essays may be easier said than done. I reckon I usually make a couple typos in each of those. Especially when I'm fired up. I'm guilty of using a lot of sentence fragments (see above) and committing all manner of grammatical errors. Some of it is deliberate, some isn't. I probably should crack a "Grammar for Dummies" book. It's either that or learn how to post cave drawings in place of written posts on these forums.

Well we all know substance is seldom wrapped in a TC tamper-proof package. Spelling correction is really a minor nuisance especially when compared with skippy chatter.

For most (note I said most, not all), a quick reading of a post prior to hitting submit will catch the majority of typos and grammar issues. Personally, I have about a dozen words or so that I know I have an issue with. I stick those on Word from time to time to make sure I'm correct, but they definitely get through on occasion.

However, there is a lot that spell-check cannot deal with, and it has become enough of a crutch for some that incorrect words and grammar slip through when they might not if a small effort was made to stop them. I spell check reports, but not internet posts.

Edit to add - I end sentences with.

I just got a letter in the mail today from Mr. Butterfield looking for appraisers to join his network. Hand addressed, who does that anymore? Return address was from the Eastern part of the state. He must be expanding.

Not to sidetrack the discussion, but I was in USPAP class yesterday taught by Larry McMillen. He was an excellent instructor and he mentioned that he is starting something called Appraisal Unity. From what he described it is just a letter that he’d like to get 40K signatures on. He is going to send it out soon and I’ll post it here when I receive it.

Now back to the regularly scheduled topic…

He must be expanding....

He is persistent, I’ll give him that. What scares me is if he gets many signatures the damage it could do to the profession if the legislators take it to heart. Let’s face it, there are some not too bright appraisers out there… We got to make sure the right message gets addressed and not this off the wall stuff.

There are not enough jobs in our business...statistically speaking. Slimy folks yes, nut jobs, not so many. Plus ole'Craig has not learned it's easier to accomplish his agenda by being nice to the very people he is asking to sign his little I see black helicopters club.

Roscoe is back at it. Now he is whining on the AF that he can’t PM certain people and wants to know if it is because he is on their ignore list.

I guess he thinks he is entitled to stalk people.

Hey, Stone, you got Roscoe on ignore? LOL!
