Voice Ads

They can't be controlled or removed, Edd. Not unless we move to another provider, pay for it, and I undertake to do all that damned PHP programming myself. The ads are how the hosting service pays for this thing.

The voice ads were over the top, and I told them so. They fixed it. I don't know what to do about your drop-down ads, because I can't see them here.

I've seen that before...

But, I have not ever heard the voice ads you are talking about. Maybe my Firefox has it blocked out. I also have not had any trouble with drop downs.

Edd, you might want to consider Firefox. You can get it here:

In IE v7 select Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Sites button. Enter the web address and click Block. By blocking adbureau.net I get these type displays in the banner area ...

Ok, it just happened again. The banner add just erected itself and obscured the post.

Edd, next time that happens, grab a screen shot of it. Then select "view page source" in your browser menu, and save that to a file. Send'em both to me in an e-mail attachment to
jimplante at charter dot net.

That thing isn't acting right, because banner ads shouldn't be popping up (or down) in the middle fo the posts. I'll ask Jackal (on the support forum) to look into it.

Edd, you may have some spyware or Trojans on your computer. Ads will pop up like that on an infected computer. I'd say download and run: SpyBot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware 2007, and SUPER AntiSpyware. All are free and work great, but be sure you download the REAL version of these programs. Some others try to look like their website, and they'll actually load even more Trojans on your 'puter.

I concur with Mel. Edd, stay away from the porn and you'll be less likely to get such stuff.

I use MS Explorer (not the new version, either) and haven't seen the as you speak of.

It just happened again. It is a banner ad on here for the Journey, a cross over Dodge. It had something to do with Adobe 9 Flash Player. Also discovered it doesn't happen until the cursor passes over it. No click neeced. The banner ad just gets about 3X and obscures the thread.

I don't think it is a porn issue, Walker. No pun intended.

So, Edd, are you saying you don't get a pop up from your porn?

Don't use your work computer for porn! Use an old beat up network unit that doesn't get any email. :P

Porn viewing habits aside, I just got my first voice ad a few minutes ago. Grrrr.... I hate those things.

I just heard the voice ad for free laptop. Not really a big deal to me... the voice message was short and did not repeat. In fact, I may have heard it before and didn't realize it.
